The Paralakhemundi Municipality was constituted as per order No. 403(M) / dated 17-08-1885 of Ex. Madras Presidency. It came under the Administrative control of Odisha government vide Notification No. 3003/ I & O, dated 16-04-1957. This Municipality Comprises of 9 (Nine) Mouzas namely Kabitipur, KabitiKhaspa,Ramsenpur,DinaKrushnapur,Gangadharpur, Krushna Chandrapur, GouraChandrapur , Reli Sahi and Paralakhemundi.This municipality is to cater the minimum basic civic amenities and service to the citizens like Street Lighting, Pension,Piped water supply, Sanitation, Education, Health Services implementation of Poverty Alleviation Programmes, Slum improvement Provision, Provision Recreational Facilities, Group and Individual loans, Educational trainings, Employment Generation Activities, Awareness, Campaign against Socio-Economic Welfare activities in the line of Central and State Govt. promulgation.

Paralakhemundi Municipality has been constituted in the year 1885, with derivation concept to provide the basic needs of the people in Council areas having self management through enhancement of own revenue. Implementing Social Scheme/ Programme for provides the basic service to the people this city like DAY-NULM, PMAY, SBM, Solid Waste Management,Land Right Certificate (LRC) and development of road and drainage system, electrification, water supply, health, education, greenery, development of parks, conservation of water bodies. it communication system with total socio economical requirement of urban poor in slum areas to have a healthy, wealthy and maintaining hygienic environmental pollution free life.
